I don't recall the hour, but I smelled petrichor during the middle of the night, so I went to the window, yet it wasn't raining. Apparently a light sprinkle had just passed over. Just enough to leave a few small puddles on our azotea. But in other parts of Zihuatanejo it rained hard enough to wet the streets. Some poor soul wiped out his car on the wet pavement and slammed into the convenience store "El Cacahuate" on Calle Heroico Militar where the entrance road to the post office is. So I guess it counts as the first official rain of the season. I can't ever recall the rains starting in April here. I believe this is a first. The temperature of the ocean and air are also both warmer than is normal for this time of year.

Tuesday morning was similar to Monday: warm and humid. The sky was less cloudy than Monday morning, but more humid. A breeze picked up later in the day, and we saw lightning from the pier looking east at twilight. The mar de fondo picked up a bit, washing high on the beach, and the ocean was agitated like there was a storm nearby. Hardly a tourist in sight.

Ixtapa didn't look very busy today, and there were hardly any visitors visible in Zihuatanejo. The streets were quiet and the businesses were dead. But La Porteña restaurant on the waterfront was going a good business this evening, full of extranjeros, which like last night's rain, is odd for this time of the year. But a welcome sight for local businesses.
