It was hot almost before we even got out of bed this morning. Okay, I'm exaggerating, but only a little. There was nothing cool about this morning. Thank goodness for a few clouds to hold the sun back a while, but by 8:00 A.M. it was already quite warm out, and downtown on the waterfront there was only the slightest breeze coming from the hills, and then it died down. But a little later the sky cleared and the breeze picked up pretty well by noon. Felt good! Then it clouded up again at sunset and the sky was dark and gray over the sierra. Certainly looking like it wanted to rain.

There were a very few apparently middle-class tourists along the waterfront this evening. Good to see, but too few. Most waterfront restaurants only had one table of customers except for La Porteña which had several tables as usual. Sales were dismal for downtown's Zihuatanejo's merchants. Restaurants won't be able to keep operating with so few customers.

The weather soothsayers are predicting an active storm season for our hurricane season that officially begins on May 15, but for all intents and purposes appears to have already begun. A few years back we were the first people in the world to witness the formation of a Cat 4 hurricane in front of our coast that later slammed into the coast of Jalisco, if I recall correctly. But this year the forecast includes the possibility of Cat 5 hurricanes. The stuff nightmares are made of. Stay tuned to local weather forecasts on my ZIHUATANEJO-IXTAPA WEATHER page.

[image]A local boutique hotel that certainly is romantic is Tentaciones Hotel & Restaurante. An inviting place that will leave you wanting more of what they have to offer: a luxury bed and breakfast boutique hotel in a private villa overlooking La Ropa Beach with only 4 suites, a restaurant and a unique pool bar lounge offering a panoramic view of Zihuatanejo Bay and its beaches. They also have a two gourmet open-air restaurants that will transport you to a magical place full of temptations. (click to enlarge image)
