This Sunday morning the murder of beloved ecologist and investigative reporter Alex Serna was confirmed. His body incredibly sat in Zihuatanejo's SEMEFO since June 22nd. Apparently family members felt threatened until one finally went today for the formal identification. Someone didn't want him identified for all this time even though the people at SEMEFO should've easily been able to identify him, which makes the mayor's comments yesterday about his whereabouts remaining unknown seem not quite believable since this is a small town and she knew what he looked like and could've easily conversed with SEMEFO and received photos from them, something a caring person in her position would've done. This entire matter just keeps getting more and more rotten with the stench of corruption. I predict a growing rage among the good and decent citizens will come back to burn whoever is intellectually responsible for his death. The suspects are very few.

Still no relief from the heat, and still no rain in Zihuatanejo, though there are currently storm clouds all around us at the moment.

Swells are around 2 meters high today, and they're expected to get to 2.4 meters by Wednesday. Surfers rejoice!

The Mexico - England game was delayed for an hour due to rain, but is expected to get underway in a few minutes. The Cancha Municipal has had people saving seats all day there. If Mexico wins, there's going to be a huge celebration. If not, at least we'll all likely get a good night's sleep.

The downtown beach was busy today as were the rest in our region. Good to see people showing up and having a good time, even if they are oblivious to the current suffering of our local community. Pizza ovens are busy today. If you didn't order your pizza early, it's not likely to arrive anyime soon.
