No rain last night, and the temperature took a while to get down to a comfortable 26°C, but our ceiling and floor fans did a nice job keeping us comfortable. But once the sun came out, things warmed up quickly to around 35°C. Staying hydrated is important during this time of year we call La Canícula. Typically the warmest 40 days of the year. We have a slight chance of rain overnight, and a much higher higher chance this Thursday evening and Friday morning.

:futbol::flagargentina: Argentina continues to be the last hope for an American team to win the World Cup. :woohoo:

There seem to be more visitors around today. Local shopkeepers are enjoying modest sales. Beachfront restaurants are busy. Ixtapa's shopping area remains the same with hardly anyone from the beachfront hotels even visiting, much less consuming anything off the premisis of their all-included hotels. Unfortunately, a woman was found shot to death in her vehicle near the Lagunillas turnoff just north of Troncones this morning. Not a very welcoming sight for folks arriving from the inland cities via the Autopista Siglo XXI.

:personsurfing: Still no real waves from the storm that continues forming up off our coast. Current swells are just under a meter but expected to grow to a little over a meter by this coming Sunday and Monday. The water is hot, close to 32°C, over a degree above normal for this time of year. Surf looks good for the rest of the week and better for next week.

Enjoy your pozole this jueves pozolero.

At the Cancha today, the crowd was decidedly behind England except for three young boys sitting front and center in their Messi camisetas deportes. The crowd was stunned by the two late goals by Argentina except for the three boys. They went wild when Argentina scored, mimicking the pros who throw their jerseys off in triumph. It was quite the spectacle.

I think you'll find the majority of Spanish speaking nations will be rooting for Spain in the final. Most of my Mexican friends don't care for Argentines, they find them to be rather dismissive of Mexico and Mexicans and believe they speak a superior form of Spanish. I'm English so might be a little biased but my position is anybody but Argentina!

It's a mixed bag. Since England beat Mexico, some folks rooted for them because it gives more prestige to Mexico's team if the team who beat them wins the Mundial. Some Mexicans dislike Argentinos because of some recent propaganda that made the news by a publicity-seeking commentator, and yes, they can be arrogant, acting like colonial Europeans towards the rest of us. And some of us just want the Copa to stay in America.
