Olas NoZIHvas
We barely got a light sprinkle this Saturday morning. Just enough to send the dozens of visitors with their suitcases and coolers fresh off the bus waiting along the waterfront for the water taxis to start operating to seek shelter on the covered sidewalks. But it didn't last long, and sun came out fierce and hot for the rest of the day.
The pier in Ixtapa had to close because of the mar de fondo, and a lady broke her leg after being hit unexpectedly by a wave at Playa Las Gatas and had to be taken by the Marina to a hospital. At La Ropa a tourist had to be rescued after getting sucked out to sea by the currents. The waves were washing into some of the restaurants there. The waves are expected to get even bigger this Sunday as the effects of the passing hurricane hit our coast. People were still swimming at Playa Principal this evening, and one group of people had their music turned up too loud. That's when the Policía Turística should ask them to turn it down out of respect for others.
There's a small chance of rain this Saturday night and Sunday. I'll believe it when I see it. We keep seeing it forecast, but it always seems to miss us or dissipate. ¡Tamos sala'o!
Beaches were crowded today, but it seems like the visitors we had today spent all their money at the beachfront restaurants and not much anywhere else. For dinner many visitors prefer street food to local restaurants, though the cheaper taco, hamburger and pizza joints are also popular. There were a lot of cars in the downtown streets this Saturday, in contrast to previous days.
Lots of Mexicans are cheering for Isaac del Toro in the Tour de France. Looks like he'll be making history by being on the podium this Sunday in 2nd place, much thanks to his teammate, Tadej Podačar.
