We finally got a little bit of rain overnight, and we awoke to a refreshing Monday morning in Zihuatanejo with mild temperatures and everything washed clean. Hopefully, we'll have a repeat this Monday night.

Another day with hardly any tourists to be found anywhere. Many businesses didn't bother opening today, and it's even worse in Ixtapa with the all-included hotels. Unfortunately the terrible job of promoting Ixtapa being done by our municipal authorities is attracting people with no money to spend, all looking for "los tres B: bueno, bonito y barato". Restaurants are being particularly hurt, with no help at all coming from the municipal government besides pouring cement of the mayor's family and trying to fool people into thinking it's progress.

A shame no one was here to enjoy our beautiful weather today. It was partly cloudy for most of the morning, but the sun finally came out. This evening a sliver of the crescent moon could be seen flirting with Venus in the western sky.

This Tuesday evening is the Grito de la Independencia. There's going to be a big wingding at the Palacio Municipal here in Zihuatanejo as well as at the Palacios Municipales in La Unión and Petatlán, but most of us will watch Presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum give the Grito at the Palacio Nacional overlooking the Zócalo in Mexico City where there will be a huge party. ¡Viva México!

[image]If you're a fan of mouth-watering recipes, one of the best reasons for visiting Ixtapa is to go to Deborah's Restaurant. Whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner, everything we've ever eaten there has been prepared to perfection and the service has always been excellent. Deborah also makes some of the best desserts around, so save room when you go.
