This is my first time voting in a US election from Mexico. I received our ballots and instructions this week and I am ready to return them to the US. For those that have done this before, what is the best shipping method to return the ballots to the US? Looks like DHL and FedEx are relatively expensive. Are there any other viable options from here?

See if you can find someone on this board who is going back to the US and can drop the envelope in the US mail.

I would NOT send it via regular mail. I sent a friend a letter and it arrived to her 4 months after.

Be sure to read all of the fine print that is in the instructions. At least for California, for presidential elections, there is a site in Texas that you can send your ballots to electronically and they get them to California. We have received receipt notices from the election people confirming their receipt of the ballots.
Living here, we only vote in the presidential elections. That is our choice.

Check your instructions on the ballot for voting from abroad. I'm able to fax my ballot to the Election Supervisor for the county where I'm registered in Florida.

Rob where can I find a fax machine in Zihua? About 5 yrs ago I looked everywhere for a fax machine and struck out. I was told fax machines were thrown out with the turn of this century.

There aren't any here, however, Rob taught us that the online FAX programs are easy to use and if not free for small quantities, almost.

Unfortunately, Minnesota only allows paper ballots. Thank you to those that offered to take our ballots back to the US. They are in transit now. While I know that my single vote may not make a difference, I would like to think that it could, especially in the race for our open senate seat.

I live in British Columbia. There was a politician here known as “Landslide” Al Passarell.
His opponent was Frank Calder. Calder had been elected consistently from 1960 through to 1975.
In 1979, Calder and his wife didn’t bother to vote. After all, he had been winning for almost 20 years. This was just another election.
“Landslide Al” won that election by one vote.
Frank Calder had forgotten that every vote counts.
