It rained again for most of Wednesday night until right around sunrise this Thursday morning. Not heavy. Just a light soaking rain. The wind finally died down, too. Once the sun broke through the clouds, it started looking like a normal day except for the color of the ocean, the wet beach, puddles everywhere, the mud at the pier entrance, and sand all over the waterfront walkway. But folks were venturing out and greeting each other after being indoors for so long.

We're still experiencing extreme tides even though the ocean has calmed down.

The port opened back up, fishermen went back to work, and the water taxis took what few tourists who showed up out to Las Gatas. Workers and tourists were still returning this evening from Las Gatas even though there are still no lights at the pier and the mud is terrible. The project just keeps looking stupider and stupider. Views blocked. Reduced open spaces. Same old sickly palms being planted. And a silly faux HILL in front of the pier. Today they placed a palm right in front of the entrance to Lily's Restaurant, blocking their view of the pier and the bay even more. Views are what we sell, but our silly municipal government appears to not have a clue. They just keep copying other places, pouring more cement, knocking down shade trees, and planting sickly little palms. Ruining Zihuatanejo's character and charm in the process. So terribly disappointing.

Our pozole from La Jaiba Feliz this Thursday was delicious today. How about yours?

La Porteña Restaurant on the waterfront walkway has opened back up after a brief vacation period for them.

The dollar has gained around pesos in the past couple of weeks. Good for people who receive remittances and payments from the States as well as for folks vacationing from el otro lado. Make your rezzies now while the exchange rate is in your favor! It might not last long.

[image]Seaside Apartments feature four apartments and one bungalow, all very comfortable and nicely decorated in a Zihuatanejo Mexican style with affordable rates. With room for from 2 to 5 people. Three of the properties are located in La Madera Beach and two are at the southern end of La Ropa Beach. One has a pool. All have A/C, internet and personal safes, and all are located near the beach and numerous delicious restaurants. (click to enlarge image)

Long term follower and admirer of your posts and honesty Rob.

The Pier cam is down, for obvious reasons, some sneak peek "progress" pics wouldn't go amiss.

As mentioned in an earlier post thinking of coming down soon.

After Polo and Rachel, I see on the midterm forecast another one is set to form but skim the coast as the previous two but then come into Manzanillo - https://www.windy.com/-Rain-thunder-rain?rain,2026-10-07-14,14.709,-101.119,7 - unusual hey! El Niño keeps giving.

Take care all Zihua lovers and followers!

Rob your constant endeavors here don't go unappreciated.

Muchas thanks and many gracias!

other web cams are down right now, including the two at La Lopa, in particular the one at Rossy's showed the severe loss of the sandy beach being replaced by rocks.
Aquatic footware will be a necessity this coming season.
