Días de Serenidad y PerfecZIHón
No rain Monday night, and the temperature was around 24°C which made for perfect sleeping weather. Although sheets were optional, I found myself under mine.
Tuesday morning was fragrant and beautiful. The sun comes up a little later each day, and we're back to the balance that Lupita and I like where the sun is still behind the hills while we enjoy our morning routine, whether going to the mercado, the panadería, or a stroll to the pier.
The pier at Playa Linda reopened today to the public even though it's in such terrible condition that it could literally fall down at any moment. I keep hoping for the day when our municipal government puts the interests of our visitors over its own interests such as worrying about its image, but it looks like I'll be hoping for a while longer.
Town was mostly empty of visitors today. Waiters and tour guides are out in the streets and on the beaches like vultures searching for meat to prey on. It's a feature of tourist destinations that I have always disliked.
We could be getting a lot of rain in the next few days from the tropical system that's heading our way, and another one is forming up off the coast of Guatemala. It's a busy busy busy time of year.
As I predicted when it opened with blaring music a year ago, the restaurant that replaced Daniel's has already closed. So if anyone's looking to open a restaurant, the clientele of Daniel's who enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere, good food, good service, and live music a few nights a week can probably still be salvaged.
There was a small fire in the kitchen of Deborah's Restaurant last week, but everyone is fine and the damages have been repaired. Nothing but a scare and a lot of anxiety for Deborah and her crew. So now would be a wonderful time to show support for Deborah and her wonderful staff by paying them a visit and enjoying some of their mouth-watering delicious fare and excellent service. Deborah also makes some of the best desserts around, so save room when you go. (click to enlarge image)
