I'm curious if there is any "meaning" to the yellow painted curbs in Zihuatanejo? It seems that almost all curbs are painted yellow. I'm assuming that (unless othewise posted) yellow means "ok to park here"? What's the scoop on the yellow paint? Thanks

Yellow paint means nothing. Must've been what the political contributor was offering that day. If it ever meant anything, the folks responsible for knowing what it meant have surely forgotten to tell anyone to whom it could be important. If you're worried about traffic cops, yellow paint is also meaningless to them. They only know how to blow whistles and ask for mordidas, though they will quickly tow your car on the mornings of parades even though no notices warning our visitors about parking for upcoming parades are ever posted.

P.S. Some of us still remember that the yellow paint is supposed to mean no parking, but don't tell that to the dozens of taxis who park daily next to the No Parking signs in front of the Traffic Cops by the main downtown plaza

Yesterday they were taking the plates off of cars parked in front of a tow away zone on this end of the street. I watched them. Today there are at least 7 or 8 cars parked there and nothing is happening. You just never know here what is happening till you are told it is wrong. And that can change tomorrow.

A while ago I was parked on Juan Alvarez at least 20 meters from the corner where you go into the parking lot at the dock. The "no parking" sign is probably 40 meters down the block. I got towed and was told the bus couldn't turn which was b.s. I paid the no parking ticket plus got charged 400 pesos for the tow truck, cash, which went into the boss' pockets. What a bunch of corrupt culeros.

I stand on my balcony and watch big trucks and busses have problems passing on the street every day. Just be careful where you park. I got my mirror knocked about and on another car the window knocked out because of people parked where they should not be and in trying to miss them, the bus hit my mirror and pushed it into my window and broke it.
