Saw in Archives where Europcar rental car at airport is honest?
Anyone have good experiences with this company?
Have seen all the nightmare stories about Hertz....what other rental car companies are good?
Thanks...... Be there for a couple weeks in 60 days.....but who's counting...lol

I dealt with them last year and had no problems.
In my experience, you will be quoted one rate without insurance and a very different rate with insurance. You may want to find out if you can handle the insurance more cheaply than by opting into their policy.

I have had good luck renting from Alamo. They have been honest and great to work with.

I have always used Alamo. I buy all the insurance and have never had a problem. I tried to use Eruopcar this time and they kept posting 10.00 charges to my credit card and then would email back to try again for a different car, saying that the car I wanted wasn't available. No charged were posted on my final credit card statement. Needless to say, I’m using Alamo again in 52 days.

I've rented from Alamo for years at ZIH. My last rental from them was last month. Service has always been good, vehicles have always been reliable, the rates charged to my credit card have always matched what they quoted me. I always purchase the insurance. One bit of advice - upon arrival and rental pick up, be sure you take an extra few minutes out there on the curb to point out any and all of the nicks and scratches on the car from bumper to bumper, up high and way down low, windows, tires, rims, headlights, break lights, turn signals...even the most harmless looking ones. Be sure that the Alamo person marks those on his little car diagram. Some people take photos as they walk around. I kind of slacked on that process on my last rental (surf was up!) and surprise, surprise when I returned the vehicle they found a scratch that was not there when I picked the car up. I did not agree and it was a bit tense for a few minutes, but it worked out ok. Previously I have never had any issues when I return the car. I'll rent from them again.

My credit card was "compromised" after using Europcar. It was the only place in Zihuatanejo that I used the card. Also issues with damage that was obviosle pre existing.

Don't use "DOLLAR" car rental. They had no cars available even though I had confirmation #. They gave me a "wreck" with a broken windshield and no tail lights,no air and 1/8th of a tank of gas. They told me to come back in a day or two and exchange the wreck for another car. Then we got into the insurance problem. I told them I had CDW through my Visa card. They said I had to take 3rd party liability, for an extra $12 per day. I argued but ended up saying ok to the 3rd party liability. As I was signing the contract I noticed they had charged me an extra $24 per day for CDW. They said if I didn't like it I could leave. I was stuck so I took it. I wrote to Dollar in the states and got some coupons for my next rental BIG DEAL.

As a Hertz gold customer in the states, I have always used them when renting a car in Zihua. I have never rented at the airport, but in town. I have never had my credit card compromised.
Always had a problem with Hertz every single year. Don't think they are there any more.
