Clinica Especialidades Zihuatanejo
This past Saturday, 18 January, one of my dearest friends fell in her apartment in Pacifica and broke her femur where it attaches to her newly implanted artificial hip which was installed last October. The concierge at Pacifica, Alondra, did a fabulous job of assisting my friend until her husband returned from running an errand and then she, Alondra, arranged for a Red Cross ambulance to come and deliver my friends to the hospital known as Clinica Especialidades in Zihutanejo. The doctors and staff there did a superb job of attending to the patient; stabilizing and immobilizing the fractured bone, running tests and providing her the finest comfort and care available throughout her stay in the hospital until Sunday at which time my friends flew back to their home in California on an Air Ambulance contracted through Eresponse.com.mx.
Clinica Especialides charged a total of nearly $11,000 pesos for the stay and treatment. which price seems to me to be very reasonable.
Late last night I received a telephone call from Alondra, the concierge from Pacifica, who was with another couple from Pacifica. The husband had suffered a heart attack earlier in the afternoon and Alondra took them to Clinica Especialidades. Alondra was asking for the contact numbers for the local US Consul in Ixtapa. I explained to her that Ixtapa no longer has one and that the nearest US Consular office is now located in Acapulco
Sadly, the husband suffered a second heart attack while in the Hospital and expired. presented them with a bill for nearly $100,000 pesos!!!!
