Bus to Chula Vida on Playa Blanca

Has anyone gone to Playa Blanca by bus. The restaurant site talks about catching the "cattle bus" at the airport. I assume this is some sort of a truck like you get at Barre de Potosi, but my husband like to know what he is getting into, where he is going to find it before I drag him off to something I think I know about. No sense of adventure.

Bus to Chula Vida on Playa Blanca
You take the same bus to the stop where the road winds toward Barra de Potosi. I believe the stop is Los Achotes. Take the pickup truck for a couple of miles until the paved road turns sharply left toward Barra. At that point, turn right and take the dirt road [which actually runs more or less parallel to the ocean] until you get to Chula Vida. By the way, I [Michigramma's husband, Jim] had the tuna sashimi. It was terrific. I told Lissette that I was going to report her to the authorities for keeping the cuisine such a secret. By the way, Lissette was kind enough to drive us back to the highway in her truck. She backtracked to the paved road, turned left and went on to the highway.

I'm confused, the Chula Vida site says to take the bus to the airport and change to a "cattle bus" at the airport stop going to Barre de Potosi. If we go to Los Achotes and take the truck there are they going to drive us down the dirt road to Chula Vida or do we walk . If we walk how far is it to walk down the dirt road.

Hola. Too far to walk the Los Achotes way of accessing Chula Vida. If you get off at the airport, I have seen the little buses/pick up trucks with seats waiting there to take people along the road. It's about 5 kms. going that way. If the bus isn't there, there would be a taxi, and once you get there, Jorge and Lizette will take great care of you and make sure you get back safely. It's worth the trip! Our favorite place to go on Playa Blanca!
p.s. it shouldn't be so random and/or confusing and/or expensive for people to get around here. Just back from 2 weeks in Guatemala and that country has tourism figured out!

Maybe this will help. If you cach the Petatlan bus from Z to Los Achotes (just tell the driver and there will probably be some other Gringos getting off there as well. Then you catach the "cattle truck" to La Barra. The road will come to a 'T' intersection and the bus will turn left to go to La Barra but not to the right. The 'T' inteersection is the beach road that runs from La Barra to the airport.
Now, there used to be a "cattle truck"/volkswagon van that ran from La Barra along the beach road to the airport. I am not sure it still runs. Just ouside the airport fence and entrance area is a small store and the road there (along the fence) goes to the beach road and thence to La Barra. I am not sure this conveyance still runs.
Perhaps this link to a map will help. The road coming in to the beach road from Los Achotes is the one with sharp turns just South of the words 'Playa Blanca' (these words are in the water on the map).

By the way, businesses on the map have not been updated for a few years. This side was started by don Otto, a Dutch expat who lived in La Barra for several years. A few years ago he came down with Guillien Barre disease and returned to Holland. He plans to reurn to Mexico some day

And if you Google Earth the area you can plainly see the beach road running from La Barra all the way to the airport. The road is going N just off the W end of the runway and then turns right and goes to the airport.
