Trip report, summery of 2 month

We have returned home after 2 wonderful months is Zihuatanejo, back to the land of responsibilities, doctor and dentist appointments. Our return trip was uneventful except for the fact that Alaska Air destroyed our 2 checked suitcases, replaced one as it was damaged so badly that it wouldn’t make the second leg of the journey. But the replacement bag’s handle broke upon our arrival in Seattle and they again replaced it. The other one they are sending a check for us to replace it. Two of the 4 people we dealt with at Alaska regarding this situation were extremely helpful and accommodating, two weren’t. So we will just focus on the positive.
We have great memories of our trip. Memories of connecting with old friends and meeting new, memories of participating in my first, but not last “Sharkfest Swim “ at Troncones. The memories of my 70th birthday party at El Agave, where the food is most excellent and the friendships even better. Memories of the “Fish Fillet in White Wine” at Don Memos along with good wine at great prices. One of the best dishes in Zihuatanejo! The memories of participating in my first “Board Party”, visiting Barre De Potosi, swimming at Playa Las Gatas and Playa la Madera, Sailfest, Guitarfest and so much more.
One of the most unique and pleasurable memories is the day/evening spent at Chula Vida on Playa Blanca where we went with friends, were treated with much hospitality by proprietors Lisette and Jorje. We enjoyed the setting sun over Playa Blanca with cocktails at tree stump tables, then a wonderful dinner topped off with the best ice cream ever, almond ice-cream. Then because the hour was late we were given the choice of calling a cab or Jorje would return us to Zihuatanejo in his small pickup truck. We opted for the latter, 3 rode in the back, admiring the stars and constellations which were so visible as there was no completion from the ground light, while up front Jorje sang with a Spanish radio “oldies but goodies “ rock and roll station in Spanish, and I sang (croaked ) along in English. Food was great, and we were made so welcome. Chula Vida is a place we will positively return to and I highly recommend it for your agenda next year.
We will return to Zihuatanejo in December 2014, this time for 3 months. We have decided to bypass winter in the Pacific Northwest and once again I will resume my almost daily blog www.zihuathyme.wordpress.com.

It was good to visit with you at Las Gatas, good to see you on the street so many times, and wonderful to see you looking down from your perch over the music nights of Xpresion Inmune. You are missed.

Sorry about your luggage. Keep at it and they will replace what they destroyed.
