In search for air fares, A site had the 1:05am flight lving O'Hare arriving "Z" at 11:05am $463 r/t for Jan 10,2015 on AeroMexico.
Thanks for the heads up. Beats the $800 r/t per person we paid on United this year.

So far, I am seeing big prices or some grim times. We are planning for after Thanksgiving. I have some confidence things will shake out over the summer when United gets it's schedule together. From Chicago at that time of year, typically takes some flexibility on dates and a bit of suck up on times.
Anyone from ORD who hears different, appreciate a heas's up.

Same her Fran after our May trip we plan to come back the day after Thanksgiving, not liking the AeroMexio flight, 11 hours not my cup of tea. I am willing to pay a bit more for a flight that will get us there in half the time. Oh how I miss our direct flights to Zihua. Have not had one in over 8 years.

Wait for summer. Right now, it's too early to see what creative off-season routing United might put together. Last year they finally offered a partner route through Mexico City that was a bit amusing but quite reasonable and fairly easy.
You just have to have a hotel willing to work with you if your days change. I always warn Javier at Catalina about needing to adjust days and he always works something for us. Off-season travel is different.

I loved the Red Eye before but now we try to use United Air Miles for our r/t.
Flying down to get 17.5k air miles ea we have to fly through MC and home is 35k air miles ea. Last year, 1 day they dropped the return flt to 17.5k and I just happened to see it- it returned enough to enable us 1 more trip in Jan 2015 using the last of our air miles. Used most of our air miles for the r/t to London in May for the Baltic Cruise to celebrate Kathie's 65th and my 70th birthday( we signed up for a 2nd air miles last year and got 35k for going over a certain amount of purchase).

With some luck you will get the First class upgrade for $78 as we did both coming & going. SFO to MEX $298 first class. MEX to SFO $340 First class.
Got to use the International lounge at MEX including free most everything. Also 2 free bags each so with a shopping wife like mine that's a biggie!
