They have done a great job with the big rocks and the flowers that are on both ends so far of La Comer and the canal ending (sort of)

It appears to me, that the MAINTENANCE for the complete Parque Lineal, will be a FULL TIME JOB, for at least one person, if NOT two.
I'm wondering IF the funds exist to hire the personnel needed to do it?
Was that necessity even contemplated prior to it's construction?
Also, when we get one of the heavy rains, the "cutesy" looking decorations, being plants, decorative rocks, etc., might they get washed away?

Not being a landscape person but someone who looked fairly good at what was built, I would say that they have taken into account rains. Most places have been leveled and should accomodate rains. Floods...well that is a different thing.
Before they built this they did have a person or more who worked all the time cleaning up leaves as well as branches etc, so that may have been taken into account. We have already seen someone doing watering of the plants. Let's keep positive thoughts and maybe it will turn out better than other projects here have.

Keeping in mind it is easy to build but more difficult to get funding to maintain and repair, Canada has trouble in their own National Parks maintaining what they have and have recently built and I expect most countries are the same so yes positive thoughts.
Fonatur and I speak only for what changes I see in Zihua and Ixtapa in the last 9 years and also not fully understanding the politics and subsequent downside spin I think is making an impact.

With budget cuts I personally have taken responsibility to keep two trails (3 & 5 miles) clear of the terribly invasive Blackberry bushes each Spring along Lewiston Lake in California's Trinity Alps.
Sp perhaps a couple of retired Alaskans could pay back their adoptive home by maintaining this short trail? SMILE!

I thought of the exact same thing as I begin to see the weeds overtaking the oldest plantings....but with everything that has happened here in the last week I do understand that maintaining this has dropped in priority. Seems to me that unless someone is hired to keep this clean and weeded; a group of volunteers is needed. Rob; can volunteers do what might be a paid city employees job?

Personally I don't see why not, but knowing my compatriotas mexicanos surely there will be some folks complaining that you are taking away their livelihood even if the city isn't currently providing proper maintenance. But maybe it'll work. The problem is few foreigners are here year round, and the rainy season when things really grow is just around the corner.
