Well, the tournament is over, the garbage has been cleaned up, the tally board taken down, a few beer bottles fished out of the ocean (¡gracias Gabriel!), and oddly enough the pier was reopened to the public. With much trepidation Lupita and I walked the length of the pier, noting quite a few new cracks from the quake. But the view was just as beautiful as ever before the sun was even up.

Daniel Fermin's hill of sand was converted into a lovely rendering of Poseidon surrounded by a marlin, a sailfish and a dorado. Of course right after I took the photos one of the dogs from Lily's Bar, the little poodle, came running from the bar, did several circuits around the base of the sand sculpture messing it up, and skeedaddled back into the bar. Glad I got the photos first!

I guess I won't waste any more time creating and posting these kinds of photos since apparently all everyone wants to do is accuse me of US bashing and hiding the "ugly truths" about Zihuatanejo from them.
These will probably be my last photos for a while. I spent most of the day working on them yet it seems my readers' interests are elsewhere and my work on such photos is a waste of time.
No it's not. Quitting would be admitting defeat and they win. Keep on believing in what you do. Lot's won't and lot will that's just a peril of life. If I stopped my game every time some one tried to over impose, I'd never leave my house!
I personally love the photos as they are a great reminder until we return in january.

Ditto what my friend Freddy said. It's appreciated. It's interesting watching from the outside in...just a tourist....how sometimes both sides can be right.

Speaking for myself, I can only say that your photos are a constant inspiration and reminder of why I will return to Zihuatanejo. So please do keep posting, if at all possible. I do understand that people have concerns. I do as well. But to let those concerns keep us away from a place we love only allows the bad guys to win. Sometimes when you fall in love -- with a person or a place -- it becomes unconditional. At first you think the person or place is perfect. Once you realize they are not, but you love them in spite of their flaws, you have found true love.
Please keep posting your photos! I love seeing the place we love so much come to life on my computer screen. Keeps me going until next February!

OKAY! I cannot resist the temptations of so many beautiful souls. Just for you here's a photo my lovely saint of a wife took the other day during her morning exercise. I think she's got a good eye, but then I could be biased because I love everything about her.

SO glad you reconsidered, Rob!
This is one of my absolute favorite scenes in all of Zihuatanejo, especially at sunrise.
Like Katherine, I am always inspired by your photos and look for them every time I visit the board.
Saludos y un abrazo fuerte,
dh

I hope you'll keep posting your photos. I always check them out and find them interesting. I like it when you take photo's around town too, not just the great sunrises and the bay.

I will say I really like the pictures you post. I have
always been a jokester and some of my jokes are not accepted
well. That I will admit to. I am fine with people with
differing viewpoints and I realize my viewpoint is not always
right. I will kid others about their viewpoint, I will not
allow myself to talk down to people that I feel are less knowledgeable,
because if I do it is just not right. When you do that people do
not forget it, and yes they will come after you and the conversation
becomes less about the original subject and more about pointing
out your inconsistancies. Now lets talk about antidisestablishmentarianism.

I know and love 'Monarcho' and I can vouch for this
Personally I adore his dry humor as I have always been considered a jokester as well.
antidisestablishmentarianism.
Heh, I won a spelling bee in the third grade with this word and all I got was a damn Holy Card from Sister Roberts.
Rob, I don't often say but please know that I appreciate your pictures greatly. Thanks!

When I don't explain things in depth then I get accused of being aloof, when I answer them in depth then I get accused of being condescending. Hmmmm...
Sure, we could talk about antidisestablishmentarianism, or we could talk about pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis (a word I learned in the 3rd grade in Marblehead, Mass. thanks to a sharp kid and a game of Hangman).
