Z Color del Calor

The heat and humidity of May in Zihuatanejo usually takes place against the backdrop of choking smoke from fires across the region and dead brown vegetation among our hillsides. But since the rains began early this year everything is turning green and trees are flowering. I snapped a couple of photos of the sunrise yesterday and today as seen from my rooftop. I also came across a beautiful yellow flowering tree that I believe we call a tipa near my mother's home in Ixtapa yesterday. While sometimes it's a bit on the warm side, I still love living in the tropics year round and wouldn't trade it for anywhere else.

I have been down here the last five years during this time and I have never seen it this green. Absolutely beautiful. After a cold and wet winter and spring in MN, I am loving the weather.
I am also seeing some of the effects of the earthquake firsthand. The street down by the marina is completely torn up. What a mess!
