Leaving the airport in a taxi secured at the airport, can I ask the driver to stop at Andy's?
I realize Andy is on the other side of the road, but can a taxi turn around and let me pick up a few things there?

The taxi we hired at the airport did this for us last year. He pulled over and one of us carefully crossed over to purchase a few things.
I'm not sure if they can turn around there.

I was going to suggest that, but I never use a taxi from the airport. BUT that is when you actually do tip a cab driver.

Now I'm confused. We never tip the airport taxis because they are already charging so much. Have I been blowing it?

When I came in from the airport last week I tipped the driver more to carry my suitcase up to the third floor, just like I tipped the taxi driver today to carry my six bags of groceries up. If anyone gives service above and beyond what I am paying them for they get a tip.

If a taxi driver does something beyond take you where you want to go, tip him. Otherwise, I gather not. Making a special stop (in taxi world, time is money), tip the driver.

Never be more confused than me. The only reason to tip a cab driver here is if they do a special service for you. Tess gave some good examples. You are certainly correct in thinking they charge enough already from the airport.

His place is the little store just off of Airport property when you are headed for Zihua. Alcohol, soft drinks, etc.

It's on the side of the road, going into the airport, just before the airport parking lot.

It's also the liquor store on the northeast corner of Calle Nicolás Bravo and Calle Vicente Guerrero, across from Farmacia Koyuca.

I remember his store on the other side of the street. He sold me my big Cuban cigars. 
I asked him if his name was 'Andy" and he replied "No, just a name". It took me a few years to figure it out!
