One of my favorite trees was found broken yesterday morning and had to be cut away. This tree used to sit beside the Hotel Palacios on the beach access road from Calle Adelita to the beach at La Madera. I haven't gone to see what's left yet, but even if they leave the roots it'll take another decade at least to grow most of the way back.

That is horrible. I loved that tree also. What a shame.

I don't know, but my wife and I suspect vandalism.

Rob, I really think the tree just fell down. Walked by shortly before and shortly after it fell. The surprising thing is that it stayed there as long as it did.

A great and lamentable loss, which I'll feel all the more on my next visit.
I loved to marvel at that tree's tenacity each time I walked that way to or from Playa La Madera.
Thanks, Rob for the great fotos; they'll be treasured as fond remembrances of un árbol intrépido.
