Procession through town tonight

Does anyone know what the procession through town was honoring tonight? The sign said the 6oth anniversary of something. Sorry, I didn't feel it was appropriate to take pictures, so I'm not sure exactly what it said. Very beautiful though.

The Padre calls it the 60th anniversary, but historical documents I have access to say the church first opened its doors and carried out its first wedding ceremony in 1953.
