On Z Scene
On apparently random afternoons like today at 5pm in the Plaza del Artista (aka Plaza Caritina Galeana Gómez, whose namesake would be celebrating her 103rd birthday today) for the past 4 or 5 weeks there has been a practice session for a local orchestra. It appears to be made up mostly of kids though I may have spotted an adult or two, and of course the teachers are adults. The first week was definitely a rough one as nervous students sat down in a public place and apparently made their first attempt at playing together. It seems they are also learning their instruments, so I suspect the weekly gatherings are just part of their practice. They are certainly making progress, and I have really enjoyed having them practice right outside our window, especially as they practice John Lennon's "Imagine". I imagine they'll eventually give a formal public concert, but until then if you're in the area come on by and give them some encouragement.

This morning at the pier the usual crowd of fishermen and strollers and sitters and watchers were all there doing the same things they do every morning while Mother Nature put on her usual magical display. It's a rough job appreciating so much peace, tranquility and natural beauty but somebody's gotta do it!
