Hi all coming back to Ixtapa/Zih for my 9th time. We usually stay in Ixtapa at Presidente, this year 6 days at the Prez, and 4 days at Villa Mexicana. From what I understand the included breakfast at the VM might not work for some in our group, so looking for other near by restaurants. Due to older people in the group, long walk is not in the cards and would prefer not to take a cab. I checked VM website no restaurant menu is available to read, any help is appreciated. Thanks Tay50

The restaurant at VM is called La Prudencia. Right next door (to the right if you are facing the ocean) you will find 2 excellent alternatives: Paty's and Elvira. Further down the beach to the left you will find La Perla, and even further down the beach (not really far to go the total way) you will find El Manglar- not open for breakfast, but lunch or dinner would be excellent! Further yet, is El Pirate, then Rossy's. You could easily eat on the beach for your entire stay!

Since the optional included breakfast is served in VM's restaurant, not all of our group had the breakfast included option, We still ate together. Those on the plan had tea/coffee, fruit juice or plate and eggs or hot cakes. The others ordered from the full breakfast menu (similar to other restaurants).

A coffee pot in the restaurant supplied early risers (~7:30- 8 am) with free coffee.

Our hotel plan last year included 15% discount at the VM restaurant. We had to ask for it and remind the staff to include the discount for every purchase. I see that it is part of a Distinguish Member program this year. Enrollment appears to be free.

In addition to list of restaurants in previous post, La Bocana on the main road offered breakfast/lunch last year in a different (inland) setting. Ask/call for times and days, were not open everyday last year.

Enjoy!!!!

I've been going to Villa Mex for a dozen years now, and Dona Prudencia serves a fine breakfast, suitable for people who have breakfast included and those who don't. Also like to wander next door to Paty's or Elvira's. I'm older and find the walk to La Perla and others down the beach too far for me – although to the left as you face the beach (and just past the public access next door to Villa Mexicana) is the Viceroy. They also serve a nice breakfast, but it's pricey in comparison to the others. (However it's kind of fun to see how the other half lives.) We love to take advantaqe of the cooler morning hours and taxi into town to the Zihua Pancake House. Not what it sounds like, it's small, with outside eating on a quiet little street and serves, among other things, a dynamite Eggs Benedict. We like to combine eating there with a little shopping before it gets too hot and we head back to the beach.
