Seriously thinking of canceling my trip: some ?s

I am afraid for my upcoming trip:
What if there is an earthquake while I am in Mexico City?
What if I am kidnapped by rogue taxi drivers?
What if there are riots in support of the disappeared students?
What if the students at teaching school commandeer the bus I am taking to Zihua?
What if there is no water on La Ropa while I am there?
What if a leashless dog urinates on my beach chair?
What if someone offers me a ride and unionized taxi drivers terrorize me?
What if I become collateral damage in the war on drugs?
What if the ATM asks for my PIN in numbers - not letters like I remember it - and I screw up like I did before and my ATM card gets de-activated?
What if "The News" is sold out one afternoon?
What if I am given 2013's menu and charged 2014's prices
What if Zihuarob's antipathy to taxi and teacher unions carries over to Canadian Union Representatives?
What if the special at "The Fat Mermaid" is skate? Ewww.
What if I am looking for Mexican music and all I can find is retro gringo?
Everybody I know and don't know who has never been to Mexico thinks I crazy to take this trip? What should I do?

I will be the one on La Ropa with the straw boater; perhaps painting; definitely reading. I have ordered books of Mevican poetry including one collected by O. Pav and translated by Samuel Beckett! No he didn't know any Spanish but it was a UNESCO gig and he knew Latin.

Interesting-looking book; I wish it had both the Spanish and English versions of each poem on facing pages, as do many of Neruda's books. I may just have to find the Spanish edition, too.
Thanks for the tip!

I had one which was made in Venice but it got worn out after a few years
and I left it behind on a paper mache giraffe's head at the Zoo bar in PV
. When I tried to buy another in Toronto I was informed the boater hat factory in Venice closed
. Thus my new boater is the kind they wear to row for Oxford and Cambridge, not a gondolier one. The difference in the colour(s) of the silk ribbon on the crown.
I love my boater!

Yes, I agree that would be too much adventure for this laid back palm studded beach paradise. Maybe you should go to Israel or Iran ... that would be even more adventure.

And you missed the posting by the U.S. State Department about travel to Mexico, highway closure, airport/trip interruptions, etc. etc.

Though you have used language such as; "Seriously", "what should I do." Things can never be quite clear enough for me...
For absulute clarity, your post is not dripping with sarcasim, is it? if it is not, I can state with a GREAT amount of certanty - my wife and I, will be on an aircraft from WPG-Calgary- then to Zihu. We depart on Jan 28, 2014 - we are counting the seconds, and can hardly wait to enjoy the area again, with complete peace in our minds and hearts, as we do every year when we travel to Zihu... Best

My normal route but easier to get to the DF (my 1st stop) through Toronto.

I'm thinking of canceling because ATM fees are too high and I don't know the best bank to use.
And it might rain.
And earthquakes have spilled my drinks!

Ha! Even with all that going on I'd still rather be here than anywhere else. Once again I woke up to the smell of delicious locally grown fresh-brewed coffee prepared by my saint of a wife, while I splashed a few drops of precious water on my face (still no water after 3 days) and enjoyed the warmth of the tropical weather and the smell of the salty sea air and the sounds of the birds waking up while somewhere in the distance a vendor cries "¡BOLILLOS!" I looked out the window and saw the sky being painted by the early sun, but I thought I'd let someone else take that photo today so I threw on a shirt, shorts and sandals, my almost daily attire for most of my life, and I went to my rooftop to play with my chihuahua and sprinkle a few more drops of precious water on my mint plants (gotta water those suckers every day). Then, with a sweet kiss from my wife on my lips I headed all the way downstairs to my office, switched on the radio for the morning bla bla, glanced through the morning paper, worked a little while, then it was time for a genuine homemade Mexican lunch courtesy of La Tertulia with their thick and tasty handmade tortillas! Then of course came SIESTA time, one of my absolute favorite customs and the true reason why I could never again live in the 8-to-5-with-a-half-hour-lunch-break USA. As evening comes nigh I can hear a trio of musicians playing some romantic ballad at one of the beachfront restaurants, once again causing me to sigh with ecstasy and thank my lucky stars I don't live in a crowded city or a cold climate, but right here in the little corner of paradise called Zihuatanejo, while the world slowly goes mad around us.
