coffee beans and pedicures

Not sure if they are roasted locally, but we brought home 15Kg of excellent coffee that we bought in the market for 100 pesos/kg. From the front, if you go in the rightmost door, it's to the left just before the merchant on the corner that sells spices and peppers. There is another place on Benito Juarez, just before the market on the right side of the street that has coffee. You'll recognize it by all the men sitting out front drinking coffee. Their coffee was 140 pesos per kg. There is another shop that is near the library (I think on Galeana but am not sure) that has coffee where we bought coffee last year, but we didn't like it as much as the "cheap" stuff from the market. We bought the medium roast and it is mighty tasty.

I have gotten coffee from the mercado downtown and was quite pleased with it. Bought the beans and she ground them for me.

That said, I write to suggest roasting your own (though not necessarily on vacation). I've been doing it for the last four months or so and there is no fresher, better tasting coffee than that which has been roasted within a week of brewing. All it takes is a hot air popcorn popper. I got mine from Goodwill for $4.50. I am blessed with having a store that sells green coffee beans not too far from the house, but even if you buy them online from any of the many retailers (Sweet Maria's is the Goliath), the price is well below what you would pay for a similar product at a coffee boutique. Youtube "popcorn popper coffee roasting" and you'll get plenty of videos that will show you how simple it is to have the very best coffee available, right from your own coffee maker. Puts $tarbucks to shame at half the price. I roast on Saturdays for the whole week. Takes up less than an hour of my time. The cost/value/quality quotient makes it time very well spent. Try it, you'll thank me.
