All is well in Zihua / La Barra de Potosi

We landed at ZIX on Dec 31st. We were not bugged by time share creeps. Our friend picked us up at ZIX and we were not bothered by any of the taxi guys. The beach in La Barra is still wonderful for walking, running, swimming or fishing and all the enramadas are in high gear.

We took one of the La Barra taxis in to Zihua for some serious shopping. It was 300 pesos for the round trip and three hours of the driver's time which we thought was quite reasonable.

Before coming this year, we had been reading about so many problems & hassles. We have not encountered any worries since we arrived.

This is our 7th winter holiday in the area and it's still the best value vacation anywhere.

Don't you think a lot of hassles depend somewhat on each person and how they come across to others. Glad you have been hassle free and hope it continues.

I think you're right. If you keep your stick on the ice, you can stick handle your way around most problems.

Hello Jo - I don't actually know the chap's name. He's about 6 feet tall, slender, with close cropped black hair in his mid 50ies. Not to worry though, if they are not too busy, that's pretty much the going rate. However, I don't think the Potosi taxis are allowed to pick up from ZIH. Airports have a whole different set of rules and taxis there charge "double bubble".

If you are able to hump your gear outside the ZIH parking lot, you can call a local taxi to pick you up for half the damage.

Thanks I know all about airport taxi routine LOL we would meet these folks at the Commercial Mexican if we can't sort something else. Good to know the rate and have driver info ..we usually just use pasajero and bus into Z and back..unless we're going into Z for a special dinner then we cab it back to la barra.
