The other morning the Great Egrets were out in full force showing off their brilliant white plumage. Of course they wanted me to take their picture and post it on the internet, so I gladly obliged.

Sunday the family went out to Playa Linda to enjoy the sights and the culture. They found crocodiles, turtles, iguanas, delicious fare, and the fabulous Hombres Voladores de Papantla. I highly recommend taking the time to go and enjoy Playa Linda. It is one of the treasures of Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa.

I believe it is his headgear.

The one in the middle is holding a tamborcito and has a flauta stuck into his waistband. He's the guy who stands in the middle of the pole and dances on top of it while the other guys prepare to take off in flight.

I forgot to mention that the Hombres Voladores de Papantla work for tips, no one pays them. So if you go and you like their performance PLEASE offer them a generous tip. It's a shame that the restaurants and vendors at Playa Linda don't help support them since they are quite an attraction.

Wonderful pix, Rob. I've seen the voladores several times, including in Veracruz, where people feel a special ownership of the art form (though I'm not sure it originated there -- do you know?)
