I want to give a thumbs up to the Flower House restaurant, formerly Monkey House. Located directly across from Don Memo's, on the alley. They feature a barbecue pork ribs special on Thursday and Sunday. These ribs are some of the best I have ever eaten in Zihua -- tangy sauce, big plate full of ribs, which are meaty and falling off the bone tender. Comes with a baked potato and vegetables, for $150. pesos. I haven't tried the other dishes there yet, but I'm sure I will be back.

Thanks, Katherine. We had wondered about the ribs. We are suckers for good ones. (Like to suck that meat right off the bone)

Ate there tonight, BBQ sauce OK but anything but fall off the bone tender. Wouldn't make it in the Carolina's or Texas but OK for Zihuatanejo!

It's too bad they're pushing the ribs because it is the seafood soup that is really outstanding! The waiter tried to get everybody to order the ribs, even to change my order to the ribs. They're not doing themselves a favor because in my opinion, they are far from the best things on the menu.

Mine were not "fall of the bone" tender either, but I liked the flavor and they were good. As good or better than anything I have had in Zihua.

Sounds like lack of consistency -- a common problem in restaurants, here and elsewhere.

I will certainly go there again. I just think that he was maybe not expecting so many people to order ribs. I think almost everyone there was having the same thing.

I think you are right, Carol. That would certainly explain why they were less tender than when I had them. But, I will go there again. And probably have the ribs.

Why folks would expect ribs (much less criticize the ones they get) in a coastal fishing town in the tropics where seafood rules is beyond me. All I can say is ¡ubíquense güeyes! Remember where you are. Enjoy the ribs wherever you're from. They ain't the same here and they're never gonna be.
One more glaring example of when the customer is NOT always right.

I even re-read my post and could not find the criticize part. No matter. When being here for more than just a vacation I like to try lots of things and when a place offers something I like I for sure like to try it. Seafood is not my favorite food.
When I am paying...This customer is always right.

from Pinhead Paul! (according to Incisors)
Had the ribs last night and the portion is great / the sauce is good / but they were a little tough and not fall off the bone tender. I brought them home and will cook the left over ribs more.
