Having a Z Day
Yesterday morning was ONE OF THOZE DAYZ when we were all reminded exactly where we were because it was just like "Z good ol' days" before we had reliable water, electricity or even phones.
First, the water ran out because (a) it didn't come for 4 days, and (b) some nice citizen shut our water valve because he or she had nothing better to do. So we called for a pipa and did the whole save-the-parking-spot and fill-up-the-tinacos, and because my wife is a saint and loves her pueblo so much and because the pipa driver is also such a nice guy, for the third time this month after filling our tinacos we also watered the garden across the street since it, like most of town, has been almost entirely abandoned by the municipal government. So enjoy the cool shade and whatever is green in the Plaza del Artista and think a nice thought for my wife.

Oh, and this guy's prices are very reasonable. Phone number is on the truck in the photo.
Of course as soon as I came down from the rooftop all hot and sweaty in the midday tropical sun our section of downtown lost power. Boy was THAT fun! No phone, no internet, no fans, and it just happened to be a summer-like day with some rain clouds in the area and high humidity. We didn't get any rain, or any breeze, or really even any shade from the clouds. Just the heat and humidity at noon with no power. But hey! At least we now had some water to splash our faces with!
Today of course was a much better day, and first thing this morning we were hustling along the waterfront enjoying the morning freshness and the morning colors. It was truly a lovely day. The kind that reminds me exactly why I prefer the tropics over any other latitude. Right off the bat the day started off just beeyootuhfull!!! Ahhhhh! Zihuatanejo!
