Connecting thru DFW

Few more weeks & we're on our way. With airfares sky high this year, we found the best fare from Detroit to Zih was thru Dallas. As this will be our first time connecting thru Dallas, on the outbound from Detroit we arrive in Dallas at the North terminal & depart from terminal D to Zih, with a 1hr & 45min layover.
On the return from Zih, we arrive in Dallas at Terminal D & our departure to Detroit is from the North terminal. Here we have a 2 hr & 15 min layover.
Questions:
- How far is it between terminals,
- Is this enough of a layover, considering we need to go thru customs on our return, will we be strapped for time.
Any info would be much appreciated.

I have done this several times, most recently at the end of December. Not sure what terminal is 'north terminal' , DFW terminals are designated by letter A through E. Outbound will not be an issue at all as once you deplane just catch the Skylink to terminal D. You never get outside security so you can get terminal-to-terminal in a matter of minutes. Just make sure at check-in that your bags are checked through to final destination and that you have boarding passes for both flights.

Return shouldn't be an issue either, given your layover time. Arrival/baggage area at Terminal D can be a bit chaotic- a lot of flights arriving the same time- but you have plenty of time, just be patient. Again, once you re-clear security just take the Skylink to your departure terminal.

A note: if eligible for admission you should check out the Amercian Express Centurion Lounge in Terminal D. A great place to spend your layover time.

Thanks for the info. That North Terminal is confusing as our itinerary says North terminal but all the layout maps of the airport lists terminals A thru E (no North).

Just a thought, is it possible that North Terminal is your departure terminal from Detroit? Unusual to have arrival terminals on itinerary.

You are totally correct. They say age is wisdom, guess I should be a lot younger!
The itinerary lists the departure terminal for each leg.
Thanks for the education.
