Bernie Wittstock RIP
My dear friend, and friend to so many, Bernie Wittstock, who finally realized his dream and built his adorable little bed and breakfast, Playa Calli, out at Playa Blanca, left us last Monday night. He has had some serious health problems for a couple of years, but he kept up with his friendships, his Rotarian events and entertaining us all in his inimitable style. Being German-Mexican you could see the heritage in his array of German plates, clocks, mixed with Mexican art, and all sorts of "toques" all around his darling place. We loved to just drop in on a Sunday afternoon and he would put together a lunch fit for royalty for us and anybody else who came in. He never forgot my birthday and I am sure I am only one of many. His darling son, Daniel, gave up his job in Spain to help out with running the "inn" after Bernie had his stroke, and he is still there keeping the spirit alive!! Only 73 years old ... much too early to leave us here without you.
