One of Zihuatanejo's best and one of our favorite restaurants has re-opened for the season! Café Marina owned and operated by Joe Wells and his lovely wife Pipina at Casa Marina next to the main plaza on the waterfront.
I took a great photo of Joe smiling, but then I thought this was a better photo to post here because this is how everyone knows him.

They were doing a brisk business for breakfast this morning. It is a terrific place to sit and watch the activity of the fishermen's market if you get there first thing in the morning. He opens at 7:00. It's also of course the perfect place to sit any time of day and people watch and get the pulse of Zihuatanejo.

One of my favorite breakfast places. Great food and location. Missed him in May he was closed. So looking forward to going there in December.

Rob, has this place been there very long? Can't seem to remember, but also can't wait to try it out in Feb.!

Sorry me neither. Seems like the places along where the fisherman are seem to be all shops. But we have never been there early enough!
If we were to see the fisherman coming back in for the morning. What time would you estimate we should be there?

Joe's restaurant has been there the best part of the past 3 decades and is one of our landmark restaurants, IMHO. Fish so fresh it was swimming hours earlier and recipes of perfection for everything from pizza and pastas to salads and steaks and of course local seafoods. Joe and his crew make miracles happen right on the waterfront!

It ia the first place my traveling companion wants to go when we get off the plane! And usually the last place we go before leaving. Tigra probably has something to do with that!

I go there as much for the entertainment from my host, as I do for the reasonably priced good food and people watching.

Tuna and shrimp pizza is the best pizza in town, IMHO. Also, the chipotle sauce is outstanding. Wish I knew how to make it. It's a great place to have a beer, eat breakfast, or have a leisurely dinner and watch the people pass by. Also, they've had a great selection of used paperbacks in the past.
