Dogs on beach - update?

Has there been anything new on this front (one way or the other) recently? We have always brought our dog to the beach, but haven't been able to go for awhile.

In related news, looking for a January/February dog-friendly (pug) rental near La Ropa that won't break the bank (pipe dream?). Any leads from the crew on this forum? Thanks!

We walk our chihuahua on Playa Principal almost daily without incident. Don't know if things are any different on La Ropa, but vacation season is about to start and there will be hundreds of families arriving soon, many with their pets. All I can say at this point is that if Zihuatanejo's municipal authorities don't want your business simply because you have a 4-legged family member who goes where you do, the folks in Troncones or Barra de Potosí will be happy to accommodate you.
