The biggest event of the day in Zihuatanejo was the visit by the presidential candidate Claudia Sheinbaum at the Unidad Deportiva. Some newspaper estimated around 7,000 people showed up, but it looked like about twice that. She endorsed the local Morena candidate for mayor, Leo Chávez, who DOESN'T own a cement company.

I remember reading the following comment during the decades of the PRI’s “perfect dictatorship”,

“Show me a politician who doesn’t become wealthy while in office and I’ll show you a poor politician.”

Carlos Hank Gonzalez is credited with a more concise statement:

"A politician who is poor is a poor politician."
