Besides keeping the temperatures mild, the rains are slowly turning the hillsides green and filling rivers in the region. Bringing life back to ranches and farmlands. But also causing some rockslides and washouts on some roads, so drive with caution.

The rains have been great for sleeping with, along with the sound of the ocean at night. But the biggest drawback is what we see wash up on our beaches after every single rain, year after year for as long as Lupita and I can remember. And that's a damn shame. The damage to our bay and ocean is tragic, not magic, but worse is the apparent lack of care by people who toss their trash in places where it washes into the ocean, much of it ending up in our food chain as well as the food chain of the ocean's inhabitants and the creatures that eat them.

This Monday has been another picture-postcard-perfect day. A shame almost no tourists are here to enjoy it with us. The downtown beach and waterfront walkway were mostly empty all day and this evening, though someone left a mattress on the beach that they'd slept on overnight under one of the palapas. Even made the local papers.

Don't forget to mark your calendar. You'll want to be at Deborah's Restaurant on the morning of July 1st to witness history being made!

[image]For traditional lodging with a distinct flavor of old Zihuatanejo, I highly recommend Bungalows Pacíficos. Comfortable and with a wonderful view, this small iconic Zihuatanejo bayfront vacation lodging is located in La Madera and features 6 suites and a small house, all with one bedroom with a king-size bed, air conditioning, kitchen, and terrace. The suites also have two single beds, and the small house has a twin-size bed for family or friends. They have direct access to the waterfront and are within easy walking distance of many excellent restaurants as well as downtown.
