As a resident of the US, I'm used to temps being stated in Fahrenheit and know what to expect when I leave the house. How could it possibly be considered offensive to translate Celsius into Fahrenheit for us Gringos?

I suspect Victorio was being sarcastic, but you'll notice I never use °F, and as an Austrian immigrant you originally learned the metric system growing up, so I don't understand your faux indignation, amigo. The metric system simply isn't that difficult to learn. Much easier than the archaic imperial measurements.
