Oh, we just had a minor tremor. A 4.5 near Atoyac de Álvarez. I saw the water in my mug vibrate a little. That's my indicator.
We awoke to refreshing weather this Wednesday morning after barely a drizzle sometime during the night. The sound of the surf in Zihuatanejo's bay was the perfect lullaby for sleeping to. Locals everywhere all commenting on how nice our weather is. This is indeed how we like it. We'll likely get a little rain sometime tonight in the wee hours, then chances of rain increase with each coming day as a new storm system forms up in front of us that could bring us some high winds and possibly torrential rains as it blows northwesterly, close to the coast. But for now, the bay is calm, there's a light refreshing breeze, and the cloudy sky at dusk looked like a masterpiece of nature.
I got the time wrong for the Danzón dancers. They started up tonight around 6:00 PM, not 7:00. Sorry for the brainfart. It truly is one of our lovelier local traditions. A shame the ayuntamiento tore down the gazebo in the main plaza during the last so-called remodelación where they had danced for decades. Lots of us locals would like to see a new gazebo built there.
This Friday we are expecting a new mar de fondo event, and together with the weather predicted for the next several days it's likely the pier at Playa Linda will be closed for several days.
I still wake up each morning feeling like a honeymooner, falling in love all over again at the first sight of my wife. Still marveling at the good fortune that brought us together, and especially grateful for that special moment when she said "Sí, acepto" during our civil wedding at our first home on Calle Adelita in La Madera close to 35 years ago. Every day my saint of a wife, mi sirena dorada, makes me feel like the luckiest Gringo in Mexico. Pobres los demás.
For traditional lodging with a distinct flavor of old Zihuatanejo, I highly recommend Bungalows Pacíficos. Comfortable and with a wonderful view, this small iconic Zihuatanejo bayfront vacation lodging is located in La Madera and features 6 suites and a small house, all with one bedroom with a king-size bed, air conditioning, kitchen, and terrace. The suites also have two single beds, and the small house has a twin-size bed for family or friends. They have direct access to the waterfront and are within easy walking distance of many excellent restaurants as well as downtown.

We feel the same as you two, we did 49 years last week. We pared down the vows so we each has to say YES once, and so far, it's been great.
Waiting for more rain.

Congrats to both couples. Our 49th anniversary was yesterday, amazing how time flies. The celebration would have been even better if we'd been able to have it in Zihua.

Have been enjoying Sly”s music, he was a classmate of mine. Vallejo High School class of 61, I knew him as Sylvester Stewart.

Apparently he was in a band called the Viscaynes back in those days in Vallejo. Always interesting to trace back the roots of these superstars.

That's definitely a badge of coolness worth wearing! Thanks for sharing that, Katherine.
