Recogize it for what it is---

First, the area just outside the airport, then to the "Y" to 200 that comes out at the Pemex and then to the main 200 intersection West of Cocoyul. Before long the monopoly will "own" what they want and all with the blessing of the local authorities who are bribed to "lay off" or even worse to make police presence possible. It is a part of the the culture that we really fail to understand or accpt.

Closely akin to this tactic is the Taxi Mafia that "own" all departing passengers from the Villa Mexicana/Tides/Paty's/Elvira street. I would much to prefer to take a taxi of my own chossing when departing those areas but I am not given a choice (and my wife can't walk up past the Mafia) but thechoice doesn't exist as the Mafia blocks any taaxis departing the area with paying passengers.

Would I take an alternate to the monopoly? Sure, always have when I can. Does it make a difference? I doubt it but I do get a certain sense of satisfaction from doing so.
