When Zihuatanejo Is Not In the News

I just wanted to thank all of you who year after year make Zihua your favorite place to relax and spread some of your positive vibes and hard earned money in our town.
We the people from Zihua do not want to see it turn into another Can-Cun, Cabo San Lucas, PV or worse as we would lose our uniqueness...
We love the way it is and we realize we have a LOT of areas where we need to improve as a community. Having said that, speaking with a few friends who make a living with our visitors (tourist) they have mentioned the decrease on visitors to our area and it seems that every year is going from bad to worse.
We think part of the problem is the lack of well placed advertizement on the US and Canada to bring our destination the numbers need it for our local business people to continue to stay in business and even make a profit.
Now days, it seems that are living in a day to day basis and their living quality has decreased along with their dream to see Zihua as a vibrant resort as once used to be, as mentioned by some of you .
I personally see the problem to be our Local, State and Federal Tourism Agencies who year after year fail to do the work they're paid for and instead use that office to take lavish all paid vacations without any accountability.
For some reason, they envision the previous mentioned places as the place to visit in Mexico and use most of their "leftover" resources to promote them internationally AFTER their expensive lavish vacation are taken care of...
The head of the Federal Tourism Agency Sen. Claudia Ruiz Massieu Salinas is a second generation politician with no clue about tourism yet she was assigned that office when the "cake" was given to all the "deserving" politicians when our current President took office. At out state level we have another ignorant as head and at our local level is just as bad...
No clue about making liaisons with large travel agencies, airlines and well placed advertizement on tourist convention in places like Vegas, LA, Chicago, NY and other larger cities in US and Canada.
Anyway, thanks for all of you who make our Zihua the most especial place away from home!!
