This morning started off totally overcast, and we thought it might rain here. But nope. Not in downtown Zihuatanejo. Poured in Petatlán. But here the sun came out and it turned into another one of those picture-postcard-perfect days. At least there were a few visitors here to enjoy it. It didn't rain in Zihuatanejo except for a light sprinkle in the early evening.

Lots of schools are letting their students out early, so this week visitors are already showing up for their vacations. Besides the bus tourism, we're also getting enough visitors by air by private car who are spending their money at our local shops and making a difference. While our tourism is nowhere near sustainable, this has still been one of our better off-seasons. I believe it's because we're receiving people who would normally have gone to Acapulco if it weren't still in such disrepair from Huracán Otis. But they must be staying in vacation homes or rentals, because Zihuatanejo's registered hotel occupancy today was only 19.8%. (cifras alegres cortesía del SECTUR Guerrero)

I fall in love with my saint of a wife over and over again, sometimes several times a day. She's had this effect on me since way before we were married. I may simply be love-struck and crazy, or maybe it's something in the water, but I feel like the luckiest Gringo in Mexico!
