Oooooohhh! Beautiful foto! We were at the pier yesterday probably 1/2 hour before you two. Folks were power washing around José Azueta's statue and the ground in front of the Capitania at the same time other guys were coiling up wire near the lights next to the fish gallows and across the pier where the "alarm" is. All that water while they're doing electrical work. Huh. We left as it got darker and the zancudos came out.

From dawn to dusk, this Monday was another of those picture-postcard-perfect days in our tropical paradise. It was so cool this morning that many locals were wearing long sleeves on their morning walk. Sign of a true costeño!

The breeze picked up again during the morning as the sun heated the sierra drawing air in from the ocean. The beaches were even more crowded today than during the weekend. A sure sign that the holiday travelers have arrived. People driving here commented on how crowded the highways are coming from Morelia and Mexico City.

The lights were out on the pier this evening. Not sure what happened. I didn't mind at all, but boats were still returning after dark from Las Gatas and from several charters, so the visitors were having a rough time disembarking and getting off the pier.

Our dear friend and neighbor Lupita Mora was having a posada at her family's home on Calle Agustín Ramírez with lots of family and friends. It was good to see so many of our oldest friends there. However, a bar popular with foreigners had their tables in the street next door to her home, and I was surprised they didn't move out of the way for the traditional neighborhood party instead of having their customers sitting near where piñatas were being whacked by children and blocking the foot traffic. Besides being in the way, they could've been hurt. But bars will be bars, and one thing too many of them aren't are good neighbors. At least their clients seemed entertained as some of them tried to guess what was going on. While we were across the street getting our pan dulce from another neighbor, I overheard some of them guessing it was a birthday party. I can't imagine being here and not understanding the language or cultural events, like a Posada Navideña, but I've also lived here most of my life. We all start learning somewhere sometime.

Located in the first block from the waterfront in downtown Zihuatanejo next to Plaza del Artista.
