The weather continues quite summer-like with storm clouds on the horizon again this Friday morning. No rain for us, but somebody else got some. It looks like this will be the pattern for the next several days. We get to watch while other places get a nice rinsing off. Técpan had some hail that ruined crops in their part of the sierra. Local beachgoers couldn't ask for better beach weather. Waves continue to be larger than they were at the beginning of the year, but still quite small and easy for swimmers of all proficiency levels to deal with in Zihuatanejo's bay. Confident swimmers are able to enjoy many of our beaches along the open ocean where the waves might reach a meter high at most. The ocean temperature continues above 28°C, a little warm for this time of year, but just right for most of us.

This Monday, February 2, is the official day of rest for Día de la Constitución, which is actually Feb. 5th, but any excuse for a long holiday weekend is good for us who depend on the tourism trade. Expect to see lots of Mexican families on our beaches, in our streets and at local restaurants. It's expected to get crowded around here, which is just what we need.

My fishermen friends say they've been having good luck lately with flamencos and cabrillas. We're also still seeing some atún, but you have to go way out to catch them. I sure enjoyed my Pescado a la Vizcaina from La Jaiba Feliz today. Nothing beats our fresh local fish!
