Conditions in late September

I'm chompin' at the bit, so anxious to get down there that I'm working on a trip in late September in addition to our usual March trip. I know that's kind of the end of the rainy season, so I'm wondering if much changes around there during that early fall stretch.
Specifically, are most of the restaurants open (assuming COVID is less restrictive by then)? How about water sports rentals and massage tents along the beach?

You'll love it here at that time of year. You might even get to experience a hurricane! It'll be the peak season.

Rule of thumb is no swimming for a couple of days after a major rain. Light rains are no problem. Hopefully things will be "normal" and light afternoon showers that cool down the day's heat will be what you experience. If it stays overcast and rains for a few days straight it can actually get cooler than during the winter.
