This is really an article of world wide areas that they feel are making a difference environmentally. While any press,is good press, this doesn’t talk very much about anything other than environmental tourism. While the efforts regarding whales and turtles are to be applauded, there are a lot of other things, like the burning in the fields that aren’t that environmentally friendly. I think it’s interesting that they don’t mention the “blue flag” initiative and while they are promoting environmental awareness they are pushing ATV tours of the watershed they are interested in protecting.
I don't think the Blue Flag is a good thing for the environment or tourism. How is overbuilding and allowing skyscrapers on a beach "ecological" or "sustainable"? It's nothing more than a political stunt that has backfired, IMHO.
