
Living relatively comfortably
Yes, because you can actually live relatively comfortably here on Social Security versus the US. We take the good with the bad.
Others will know more about this than me, but I wonder how much those people have been affected by the strengthening Mexican peso. If I understand correctly, the peso gas appreciated 11% over the past year. Americans living on US dollars are getting 11% fewer pesos for their US dollar income.
Not as big a deal as you might think. The annual cost of living adjustment for Social Security this year was 8.6% so the loss is only 2.4%. We've lived in Mexico for 11 years. Our SS is converted to Pesos by wise.com and deposited in our Mexican bank. We live on Pesos and don't give the exchange rate much thought.
