A convicted felon wants to continue his felonious acts. At no point does the Gulf of Mexico touch the US. After renaming it to the Gulf of America, he will then claim that it must be American and seize all of Baja California.

Lake Michigan at no point touches Canada. I suggest we rename it “Lake Canada”.

Peter Mansbridge (all you Canadians know who he is) reminded us today that the North Sea used to be called the German Sea. The British decided, unilaterally, to change the name to the North Sea during WW1. The world obviously yawned....and went along. Apparently, some maps still refer to it as the German Sea.
So don't bet against The Moron getting his way. It could be worse: I'd be hurling every time it was called "Trump's Gulf."
