Visitors were on the downtown beach this Sunday morning way before the sun ever came up, some with their suitcases in hand, apparently fresh off a bus. It was a beautiful bright morning that became a perfect beach day even though it got cloudy later on. The downtown beach was full today, as I imagine all our easily accessible beaches were.

This Sunday evening the waterfront was jam-packed full of people, but oddly the restaurants weren't. Too many of the waterfront restaurants in downtown Zihuatanejo had almost no diners. Like Saturday night was some kind of fluke when the restaurants were much busier. But the streets are still crowded, there's nowhere to park, and the food stands along the street by the main plaza were doing a good business as well as the less expensive restaurants away from the waterfront. It sprinkled lightly while we strolled along the waterfront this Sunday evening, but not enough to even get wet, and it didn't seem to bother anyone. A couple of hundred or so people were at the Cancha Municipal watching a cultural offering from the Costa Chica of Guerrero with music, dancers and some storytelling. There were also handcrafts on display and for sale.

The best part about people-watching along the Zihuatanejo downtown waterfront on Sunday evenings in particular are seeing all the beautiful families. Mexicans are extremely family-oriented, and it shows. Even in the way strangers greet each other. Always kindly. It's a cultural trait that warms the heart, which makes seeing the stereotyping as criminals of Mexicans in the USA even more disturbing, especially the xenophobic hatred fomented by a lying, criminal, silver-spoon-born, man-baby pedophile that's causing so many millions of U.S. citizens to be so cruel and cold-hearted to such kind and caring people, capturing them like animals, tearing families apart, locking them up in concentration camps, and treating them like criminals. The entire world is turning against the USA because of this. I don't see how the World Cup or Olympics can safely be held there unless things change drastically and soon.

Another tropical disturbance is forming in the Bahía de Tehuantepec. Hopefully it will stay well offshore but still bring us some much-needed rain. Rain chances increase during the next few days and through next weekend. Let's hope we don't simply watch more rainclouds pass by at sea or peter out to our southeast as has been happening. The huge dark group of storm clouds that hovered to the west of us last evening went and poured a deluge on Colima today.
