Okay, I'll bite my tongue and say the Desfile de Catrinas was pretty cool, especially because it was obvious a lot of people put a lot into it, and it sure looked like everyone was having a goodle time. Quite the spectacle! The disco music by one group wasn't my favorite, but the dancing, the costumes and the floats were fun. Most people left when there was a 15-minute delay between groups, but then came along another 4 or 5 floats and some horseback riders. Odd. But it was good to see all the visitors and locals enjoying themselves and dancing in the streets! We were dancing on our rooftop.
Though more help is arriving to Acapulco each day, the depth of the devastation continues to be mindblowing. So much is needed by so many people in such a large area. From Acapulco to Técpan and far inland throughout the sierra. Please consider making a donation to the Cruz Roja Mexicana Delegación Zihuatanejo. Their info is on my Community Notices page.
Local chisme has it that some of the profits from the cement being poured all around town and the hillsides is being used to buy up the downtown waterfront. Not good. #PobrePueblo #MerecemosMejor
A little hazy out today, but a day of beautiful weather nonetheless. Beaches were full, and the pier was a busy place much of the day with water taxis and sportfishing boats. Saw one fisherman with about 8 dorado grinning from ear to ear. It hasn't rained in weeks, and we'll be lucky to see any more before the end of the month. It's been a very poor rainy season, one of the worst I can recall, and I expect Zihuatanejo will run out of water quite early into the coming year, so enjoy the greenery while it lasts.
Speaking of fishing, pretty much anything you'd like to do on the water in a boat can be taken care of by Zihuatanejo Ixtapa Charters. They provide sightseeing and whale-watching tours, sportfishing, parties and all kinds of special events.
