What a beautiful day it was again in Zihuatanejo and all along our coast! While the waves were big from the mar de fondo event, the sky was a bright clear blue most of the day, and the sun was hot but not too much so.

The waves from the mar de fondo are washing over about half of Playa Principal. Same at Playa La Madera. The fishing pangas on Playa Principal are bunched up and tied off as high on the beach as they can get, but the waves are still reaching them. Fortunately it looks as if the mar de fondo event is abating.

We have a "new local holiday". The 4th Thursday of July will now be Día del Festival de Pozole, as if every Thursday weren't enough. Apparently the folks who work for the ayuntamiento's tourism department are out of ideas and just making stuff up now. :rollingonthefloorlaughing:

The rivers and streams are filling back up and flowing, and colonias that haven't had water for weeks and months should start having water in their homes again without having to pay for pipas.

:rainbowflag: Please check out the schedule for the upcoming Pride activities on my Community Notices & Events page. There is lots planned, and much to celebrate. Let's all support the "LGBTQ+ Liberation"!

Aunque la tormenta tropical "Aletta" anda merodeando fuera de la costa pacífica mexicana, fue un día hermoso en la bahía de Zihuatanejo. Hasta el agua azul entró a la bahía.

strong waves and current yesterday at La Ropa.

Shout out to the parasailing vendor who saw a couple being pulled out by the current, swam out to them and had his partner on their boat pick them up and bring them back to the shore.

Mar de Fondo

Spoke too soon regarding the mar de fondo event. Awoke this morning to find the waves had reached all the way up what's left of the UNPAVED part of Playa Principal. Usually we only see this when there's a tropical storm or hurricane in front of us, but the coastal currents have changed and are coming from the southeast, and the storm that passed isn't responsible for these waves. People who built too close to the beach might be affected.
