Since this Friday was "grading day" at the schools, there were no classes. There were no classes last Friday for similar silly reasons, and there will be no classes on Monday, March 16 in observance of Benito Juárez' birthday. Anyway, so there were lots of families arriving early today from Mexico's inland towns and cities, and Zihuatanejo saw a noticeable uptick in visitors.

It was cool again this morning, and I haven't seen a cloud all day. Just brilliant blue skies under a bright tropical sun. And lots of smiling visitors. So good to see! Local merchants and restaurants enjoyed some much-needed business today after a slow week.

The Cancha Municipal was full this evening as the competition for the Reina Gay del Carnaval took place. I expect it will be a huge party until late.

We also saw lots of little girls all dressed up and with roller skates on. Not sure if they're part of the evening show, but they sure looked cute and their parents looked proud.

Remember, we DON'T change our clocks here in Mexico this weekend! No more horario de verano for us.

MANGOS ARE HERE! Lots of people are selling mangos around town. I'm salivating looking forward to my mango licuado this Saturday morning. Yes, I am indeed the luckiest Gringo in Mexico!

Don't forget to visit "Las Iguanas Bazar" in La Ropa next to Casa Tucanes this Saturday and Sunday from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. where you'll find a fun time, the wonderful works of local artisans and merchants, and lots of sustainable products.

Also, the Eco-Tianguis "Sanka" happens every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 1:40 p.m. in the small plaza in front of the Vicente Guerrero school, across the street from the Museo Arqueológico de la Costa Grande in downtown Zihuatanejo by the waterfront where La Boquita canal runs into the bay. Besides wonderful handcrafts, they feature a variety of homegrown produce, fresh foods including pastries, breads and tamales, fresh coffee, juices and mezcal.
